Gotland rabbit

Rabbits have been kept for meat in Sweden since the 1500s. The breed today is endangered.

Gotland rabbits are a local variety of Sweden’s old indigenous rabbit. They are hardy and have good maternal instincts and good reproductive capacity.

A Gotland rabbit weighs about 3-4 kilograms and comes in a variety of colors with a variety of markings.

The museum’s rabbits are allowed to breed in the summer. Some of them get sold as pets.
